MUSEKIDS VIOLIN GROUP CURRICULUM

Orchestra GROUP LESSONS

Young STARTER: Stringbabies
For toddler as young as 24 months to 5 years old Preschool age. Stringbabies program uses fun story, creative movements to learn how to play their stringed instruments (Violin & Cellos) Music reading and playing by ears are taught in class in a fun engaging way. Methods books are current trending methods featuring contemporary British composers.
STARTER: VIOLIN & CELLO EXPLORATION

For students who want to explore the fun of playing the violin in a group setting. For young beginners 5 years to 9 years old. Group setting provides a fun and engaging environment for students to develop their listening, reading and playing stringed instruments. We uses method and books from current trending British such as Vamoosh and Fiddle time series plus commission current European composer's work.

LEVEL 1: VIOLIN & CELLO ORIENTATION

For students who have completed Violin Exploration. This class moves onto more finger and bowing technique. For students who are in their 2nd year after Exploration lesson. We further uses the current trending British books and commission level in the 2nd level.

LEVEL 2: VIOLIN & CELLO ADVENTURE

For students who are working on Book 1 or 2 repertoires in a chamber ensemble orchestra setting (audition assessment required). This is a pre-orchestral level.

After Violin Adventure, students should then move onto private lessons with the additions of the Musica String Chamber level or MRU Orchestra (ensemble experience) and Musica Theory Class (theory requirement).

LEVEL 3: MUSICA STRINGS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Open to students who do not wish to audition for the MRU Orchestra due to timing or age constraints (audition and separate private lesson are required for this level). This level allows for students to acquire valuable chamber ensemble experience. Students who play their stringed instruments as their 2nd instruments can also join, given that they are proficient at music reading with their first instrument. Practicing requirement for orchestra music is less than private lesson and therefore, this is a good alternative way to learn stringed instrument as their 2nd or 3rd instruments given their other extra curricular activities and school workload's commitment.
